Dickinson Parks & Recreation - Employment Opportunities

Ballpark Maintenance
Type: Full/Part Time Seasonal Position. Individual will be responsible for maintaining infield, general cleaning, and overall supervision of the Municipal Ballpark area and grounds. Cleaning includes the dugouts, spectator areas, bathrooms, broadcasting booth, and garage. Added responsibilities include spraying weeds, checking the P.A., keeping heavy traffic areas watered, mowing and trimming as well as inspecting backstop nets for holes or loose ties. Season runs April – August; Monday – Friday.

Child Care Attendant
Type: Part-Time West River Community Center is looking for a Child Care Attendant to fill the hours of 4:00-8:00 pm Monday-Friday. Individuals will be responsible for the supervision of the children that are placed in the child care/playground area. Job duties include the responsibility of the safety and well-being of children, changing diapers, feeding, comforting, and entertaining. Also included is the responsibility to keep the area clean and safe on a daily basis as well as checking children in and out of the child care area. Year-round position. Applications will be accepted until position is filled.

Golf Course Maintenance
Type: Full/Part Time Seasonal Position - Individuals will be responsible for the mowing and maintenance of Heart River Golf Course grounds and facilities. Other duties include servicing and maintaining the equipment, surveying grounds, reporting damages, sharpening mower blades, and keeping mowing equipment clean and in safe operating conditions. Season runs: May – September; Monday – Friday.

Golf Course Outside Services
Type: Part-Time Seasonal Position - Individual will be responsible for the general maintenance of the driving range. Other responsibilities include retrieving range balls, washing all retrieved range balls daily, general maintenance of the range ball picker and keeping it in good running condition, and helping the pro shop attendant take care of the rental carts. Season runs: May – September; Monday – Sunday.

Golf Pro Shop Staff
Type: Part-Time Seaonal Position - Individual will be responsible for the overall supervision of the Pro Shop. Other responsibilities include charging for green fees, cart rentals, driving range and general cleanliness of the pro shop, bag storage, and bathrooms between both buildings. Individuals must have knowledge of the fundamentals, rules, and skills of golf as well as having a flexible schedule. Season runs May – September; Monday – Sunday.

Golf Youth Instructors
Type: Part-Time Seasonal Position - Individuals will be responsible for the communication of schedule changes and upcoming events such as tournaments to the youth golfers. Other responsibilities include making lessons a total pleasure for the youth participants, gaining knowledge and being able to communicate to the youth participants, being a strong leader, showing interest in teaching golf, and teaching golf etiquette to the youth participants. Season runs: June – July; Monday – Thursday.

Lifeguards
Type: Part-Time APPLICATIONS ARE ALWAYS ACCEPTED FOR THIS POSITION. Lifeguards needed for all shifts. If interested we will assist with training to become a qualified lifeguard.

Park Worker (Mowers)
Type: Full/Part Time Seasonal Position. Individuals will be responsible for the mowing of all Park District properties. Other duties include servicing and maintaining the equipment, surveying grounds, reporting damages, sharpening mower blades, and keeping mowing equipment clean and in safe operating conditions. Season runs: May – September; Monday – Friday.

Park Worker (Trimmers/General)
Type: Full/Part Time Seasonal Position - Individuals will be responsible for following up after larger mowers have mowed Park District properties and mowing or trimming areas not mowed by large mowers. Other duties include the servicing and maintaining of the equipment used, surveying the grounds before trimming, reporting all damaged areas, picking up garbage at park facilities, sharpening mower blades and replace trimmer line as needed as well as cleaning, painting, and other repair duties. Hours include Mon-Thur 7:00 am-4:30 pm and Fridays 7:00-11:00 am.

Patterson Lake Booth Attendant
Type: Part-Time Individuals will be responsible for the collection of daily, camping, and season pass fees. Individuals must be competent in money skills, planning skills, and people skills. The booth is open 11am – 7pm seven days a week including all holidays and weekends Memorial Day through Labor Day weekend.

Patterson Lake Maintenance
Type: Full/Part Time Seasonal Position - Individuals will be responsible for the maintenance of Patterson Lake Recreation Area and Facilities. Other duties include servicing and maintaining the equipment, surveying grounds, reporting damages, sharpening mower blades, and keeping mowing equipment clean and in safe operating conditions. Season runs: May – September; Monday – Friday

Play Park Instructors
Type: Part-Time Individuals will be placed at local parks and be responsible for the instruction and assistance in various art projects with youth participants ages 4-7. This position requires extensive contact with youth/minors as well as adults. The program runs Monday – Thursday; June – July.

Softball Umpires
Type: Part-Time Individuals will be responsible for reporting to each scheduled softbaqll game, starting on time and display control of games. Individuals will be responsible to find a substitute if unable to be at scheduled game. Weekday evening hours required. Season runs: May-August.

Summer Art Instructors
Type: Part-Time Individuals will be responsible for teaching and assisting in various art projects for youth participants ages 6-12. Class activities include, but not limited to, wire sculpture, cartoon drawing, clay work, water coloring, and more. The program runs Monday –Thursday; June – July.

T-Ball Instructors
Type: Part-Time Individuals will be assigned to instruct youth participants ages 5-6 in sportsmanship along with the fundamentals, rules, and skills of baseball. Individuals must also have the ability to communicate well with supervisors, youth, and parents as well as the capability to have extensive contact and interaction with youth as well as adults. Season runs June – July; Monday & Wednesday.

T-Ball Supervisor
Type: Part-Time Individuals will supervise and coordinate t-ball activity at the assigned complex. Other responsibilities include utilizing the philosophy, policies, and procedures as set forth by the Dickinson Parks and Recreation District. Individuals must have knowledge of the fundamentals, rules, and skills of baseball. Season runs June - July; Monday & Wednesday.

Tennis Instructors
Type: Part-Time Individuals will teach youth participants ages 5-15 the fundamentals of tennis and how to play the game. Instruction focuses on instruction, fun, and social adjustment specific to skills and ability. Summer lessons will be held along with lessons running periodically throughout the year.

Tennis Supervisor
Type: Part-Time Individual will supervise and coordinate tennis activities at the assigned complex. Other responsibilities will include observing, evaluating, and assisting coaching staff. Individuals must have knowledge of the fundamentals, rules, and skills of tennis. Season runs June – July; Monday – Thursday.
