The following is our rules
and regulations for the different areas of the West River Community Center.
Please review in order to make your visit to the WRCC an enjoyable one. If

Pool
Rules (posted inside locker room before you enter the pool)
- Always shower before
using the pools.
- Children 7 & under
must be accompanied by a person 16 years of age or older while in the pool
area. The patio and community room are not considered part of the pool.
- All children under
the age of two and those not fully toilet trained must wear a swim diaper.
- No floatation devices
or toys (i.e. water wings, noodles, kickboards, etc.). Lifejackets may be
worn.
- No cutoffs and t-shirts
allowed in the pool.
- No running on deck.
- No hanging on the ropes.
- No climbing on or over
the ledges.
- No diving in water
less than 6 feet deep.
- No glass, street shoes,
food or beverages in the pool area.
- Shallow water play
structure is for children ages 8 years and under.
- Patrons over the age
of five must use the same-sex or the family changing rooms.
- Persons with open wounds,
bandages or skin conditions are not permitted use of pools or whirlpool.
- Only persons who can
demonstrate their swimming ability to the lifeguard's satisfaction will
be permitted in the deep water (must be able to swim 25 yards of front crawl
and tread water for 1 minute).
- Foul language and inappropriate
behavior will not be tolerated.
- No one under age 5
is allowed in the whirlpool, sauna or steam room. Those 6-12 must be accompanied
by an adult.
- Person with diabetes,
heart disease or high blood pressure should refrain from using the whirlpool
without medical consultation.
- Never use the whirlpool
while under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Leave the whirlpool if you
feel uncomfortable or drowsy. Pregnant women should consult their physician
before use.
Waterslide
Rules (posted at the base of the slide)
- Water depth is 3 1/2
feet.
- No running, standing,
kneeling, rotating, tumbling, or stopping in the flume.
- Only one person at
a time. Forming chains is prohibited.
- No one is allowed in
the flume pool to "catch" slide riders.
- Leave the flume pool
promptly after entering.
- Slide lying on back,
feet first only.
- Lifejackets may
not be worn when using the waterslide.
Pool
Rules (posted inside locker room leading to dry area)
- Dry clothes and footwear
required past this point.
- WRCC is not responsible
for lost or stolen items. Patrons are responsible for securing their belongings.
- Rental locks are available
at the control desk.
- Only those lockers
rented for 3 months or annually may leave locks on overnight.
- WRCC staff reserves
the right to remove any lock that remains overnight.
Track
Rules (posted at each track entry point)
- Track direction will
be as follows:
- Counter clockwise on
Monday, Wednesday, Friday & Sunday.
- Clockwise on Tuesday,
Thursday and Saturday.
- Please look both ways
before entering the track.
- Slower traffic should
keep to the inside of the track.
- No stopping on the
track.
- No roller blades, skateboards
or roller shoes are allowed on the track.
- Strollers are welcome.
Indoor
Playground (posted inside playground)
- Play equipment is for
children ages 8 and under.
- Please remove shoes,
loose articles of clothing and jewelry.
- Socks must be worn
at all times.
- No wet clothes or swim
suits allowed.
- Slide one at a time
in a forward seated position, feet first. No climbing up the slide.
- No climbing or standing
on the outside of the play equipment.
- No running.
- No food, gum or drinks
in the play equipment.
- Do not bring other
toys or other items into the play equipment.
- Please notify management
of any problems or concerns.
Gymnasium
Rules (posted on gymnasium walls)
- Patrons must respect
all WRCC staff, patrons and equipment.
- No food, gum or beverages
allowed in the gym. Water fountains are available in the gym corridor.
- No ball bags, jackets,
duffel bags or personal items will be allowed in the gym. Patrons are asked
to use lockers.
- Patrons must wear clean,
non-marking shoes. No bare feet, sandals, street shoes or wet clothes.
- Organized or cross
court games will be allowed when patron attendance is less than 40 players.
Patrons will be asked to leave without a refund if they refuse to break
up an organized game.
- No dunking, slamming
or hanging on the rims or nets.
- No spitting, rough
housing, wrestling or pushing.
- No swearing, abusive,
inappropriate language or gestures.
- "Adult open"
refers to patrons ages 18 and older.
- Lockers are available
in the locker rooms and gym corridor. We recommend securing your belongings
in a locker.
- The patron has a financial
obligation to replace balls or equipment that has been damaged, stolen or
lost.
Climbing
Wall (posted under the clock)
- All climbers must check
in and sign a release form. If under 18 years of age, parent/guardian must
sign a waiver at the control desk.
- Children must be able
to fit into a climbing harness to climb the wall. Children under 10 must
be accompanied by an adult while using the wall.
- Climbers must wear
shirt and shoes and have dry clothes (tennis shoes or climbing shoes only).
- No running, swearing,
rough housing or swinging on ropes.
- Food and beverage is
not allowed in the climbing area.
- The use of chalk is
limited to confined chalk (no loose chalk).
- Bouldering may be done
any time the facility is open. Bouldering is allowed only as high as the
2nd black coal vein (approximately 10 ft.).
- Those bouldering should
not be below other climbers. Climbers and belayers should be aware of those
bouldering at all times.
- Climbers must successfully
complete an introduction to climbing class or prove their proficiency to
belay to a staff member BEFORE they will be allowed to belay for others.
Racquetball
Courts (posted on wall pillars)
- Eyewear is mandatory
when playing racquetball.
- Complimentary eyewear
is available at the control desk.
- Patrons must wear clean,
non-marking shoes.
- Do not open door until
play has stopped or the court is empty.
- Court reservations
can be made one week in advance.
Fitness
Rules (posted in fitness areas)
- Fitness area age limits:
- Patrons must be
14 years of age or older.
- 12 and 13 year
olds are allowed with parental supervision or after passing a safety/etiquette
course.
- No food or beverages
except bottles water.
- No profane language.
- Do not leave coats
or other belongings in the fitness area.
- Equipment should be
wiped off after each use.
- All free weights and
dumbbells must be placed back on weight racks when finished.
- Do not lean on weight
plates against the wall or mirrors.
- Proper attire is required.
No street shoes, open toed, bare feet or wet clothes. Patrons are required
to bring a different pair of shoes when utilizing the cardiovascular equipment.
Each piece of cardiovascular equipment has a 30-minute time limit.
- Only staff is allowed
to adjust the televisions.
